Kansas City Star | 02/17/2005 | Kline says meetings need no apology:
Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, a Topeka Democrat, said was not satisfied with Kline's response. He said [AG Phill] Kline had a responsibility to respond, in writing, to the accusations against him.

Kline said he offered to meet with his critics to resolve the controversy.

“This is frustrating to me,” he said. “I take open government very seriously.”
Mr. Attorney General, here's the solution. Ask Governor Sebelius to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate this. He or she will have subpoena power, and will question your staff and go through your papers. If that independent investigator turns up any evidence of wrong doing, you will face the consequences, and defend yourself in court. If the independent counsel finds no fault, you will be vindicated, and I'm sure everyone will go home quietly.
