This is old news, but it's too odd to believe.

Hutchinson News local news:
"I'm a citizen of the United States, a citizen of Kansas, but I'm not a citizen of the world."

- State Board of Education member Steve Abrams, R-Arkansas City, explaining his objection to standards for teaching social studies in Kansas schools.

The new standards would have emphasized global history and cultures. Apparently the Board also rejected a proposal to teach comparative religions.
