KU drops plan to sell beer in union | LJWorld.com
Kansas University administrators have nixed plans to allow alcohol sales in the Kansas Union.
Marlesa Roney, vice provost for student success, said Friday that KU wouldn’t allow sales of beer with 3.2 alcohol content in the Hawk’s Nest lounge and Jaybowl bowling alley, as had been advocated by students and the union.
This is retarded. They aren't going to sell beer in the Union because someone under 21 might figure out how to get a beer.
- Who cares?
- I've been to bars on campuses, and it worked fine.
- If someone else bought a beer for a third party, it's not the Union's fault.
Ah, well. This is the major thing missing from campus. I'd love to have a graduate seminar or a discussion group in a nice little bar on campus. We did that at Chicago, and it was a nice break.
