News from the front

A cousin's husband who works at DHS volunteered to be seconded into FEMA for a month, and he's in Marksville, LA, about 50 miles northwest of Baton Rouge. They were registering refugees and helping get people aid. Yesterday I got this from my cousin:

He is well, but things are tense in Marksville.  Everyone lower than route 10 or highway 10 has been evacuated.  People are coming through Marksville, but there is no place to stay.  The recovery folks are trying to psych up for more and more displaced people who need help after this storm.  They are concerned about the numbers swelling beyond what they have capacity to handle.
I got that yesterday, and I hope things have calmed down a little since the storm.
