This is what shouldn't be happening - Firms with White House ties get Katrina contracts - Sep 10, 2005:
Companies with ties to the Bush White House and the former head of FEMA are clinching some of the administration's first disaster relief and reconstruction contracts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
This is not a case where we can afford to enrich already wealthy companies outside the area.

Spending a little extra on wages or materials from local suppliers will stimulate the local economy, but spending a little extra on cronyism takes food out of the mouths of refugees.
