Hiring practices

Billmon, noting that the next major personnel decision to be made is the Fed Chair (Greenspan is term limited), has a suggestion.

I want to repeat an unanswered question from yesterday. Is there any process outside this White House in which a candidate for the job would ever be in a position to vet the candidates? Or see the files? Or chat about the process with people doing those things?

Because here at KU, they always admonish people not to discuss information from job applicant folders with anyone, especially not the applicant, if you happen to know him/her socially. I'm guessing that it isn't just common sense motivating that, but fears of lawsuits.

So, WTF?
