On the first day of Fitzmas

the Special Counsel gave to me I. "Scooter" Libby.

Libby resigns. Fitzgerald to speak at 2:00 Eastern.

Rove still under investigation, probably is "Official A."

I predicted that Libby would be indicted eons ago.

How many days will Fitzmas last?

Update: Indictment here. Nitpicker points out that it states that the grand jury found:

The responsibilities of certain CIA employees required that their associations with the CIA be kept secret; as a result, the fact that these individuals were employed by the CIA was classified. Disclosure of the fact that such individuals were employed by the CIA had the potential to damage the national security in ways that ranged from preventing the future use of those individuals in a covert capacity, to compromising intelligence-gathering methods and operations, and endangering the safety of CIA employees and those who dealt with them.

Valerie WIlson was employed by the CIA, and her employment status was classified. Prior to July 14, 2003, Valerie Wilson's affiliation with the CIA was not common knowledge outside the intelligence community.
Administration talking points seem to include the argument that the absence of indictments under the law which protects the identities of undercover agents is an acknowledgment that Plame's CIA work wasn't under cover. Obviously, that's not the case. They indicted on the easiest charges to prove, and will probably use this indictment as a bargaining chip to get a plea deal or testimony against other White House officials.
