On resolutions
Consider Revka, whose first hope is:
#1. The elephants will slaughter the donkey's in '06.
#2. There will be such a loss in 06' by the dems that the liberals who call themselves republicans won't matter anymore.
...
#5. Whomever leaked to the times about our spying will be exposed and put in jail.
As for her resolutions?
#2. Spend more time in the bible
Now, what does the Bible teach us?
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isaiah 11:6, which seems relevant to item 1 on her list.
And to be a better Christian (which I take to be the goal of her resolution), one might consider the commandment Jesus offers:
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another
John 13:35, as true today as it was then.
Wishing people prison time is hardly "loving thy neighbor," let alone turning the other cheek.
I hate, hate, hate, when people try to dress their virulent hatred up in religious terms. It's the worst sort of hypocrisy:
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Matthew 6:5.
Revka, it's a gospel of love. Give it a shot.
