Tornado warning sirens that fail when tornado conditions occur are an astoundingly poor investment.

Lawrencians who want to be warned about the risk of tornados are being urged to listen to the radio or watch the television, since high winds this morning disabled the sirens. That's all well and good for me, since my power is on. Much of the town is not so lucky.

Whoever is in charge of the sirens should be flogged.
