Lantos on Darfur

Congress's only Holocaust survivor writes about the 21st century's first genocide, and what can be done.

A group of students at KU are working to get the endowment to divest from firms whose money is funding the Sudanese genocidaires. This sort of divestment, combined with international embargoes, were a major part of what ended the apartheid regime in South Africa. We can't individually change the diplomatic status or Congressional action. We all pay taxes in some state, and that state has a pension fund, it has investments through state universities, and we all have a stake in the moral status of those investments.
