Filing day celebration: Democrats challenge 100 of 125 House seats

While the Kansas Democratic Party welcomes 9 candidates who switched parties, they can also be proud that they fielded 100 candidates for the state House, a full slate of state-wide candidates and, of course, a full slate of Board of Education candidates.

In the bellwether Johnson County, home of several of the party-switchers on the list, Democrats fielded 20 candidates for 21 offices, while Republicans couldn't get anyone to challenge the only Democrat currently representing the county, Sue Storm, representing Overland Park.
